The Gadeokdo New Airport Special Act, which confirms the location of a new airport in the southeastern region on Gadeokdo, Busan, has crossed the threshold of the National Assembly.

The National Assembly held a plenary meeting on the afternoon of the 26th and voted on the Gadeokdo New Airport Special Act with 181 votes in favor, 33 votes against, and 15 abstentions out of 229 lawmakers re-suk.

It has been three months since it was initiated in November of last year.

This special law contains contents that allow the preliminary feasibility study to be exempted and to simplify the preliminary feasibility study in order to expedite the project.

Unlike the original draft without a subject, it stated that'the Minister of Strategy and Finance has the right to exempt'.

In addition, the implementation of the environmental impact assessment, which was omitted in the original draft, was also stipulated in the alternative.

It is interpreted as a result of being conscious of the criticism of the rushed legislation that was hastily promoted ahead of the Busan Mayor's by-election in April.

Prior to the vote, Rep. Sang-do Kwak and Rep. Sang-jeong Shim were opposed to the passage of the bill, saying that the Democratic Party did not sufficiently consider economic feasibility, such as exempting the preliminary feasibility study of the centennial government project, and that additional review is necessary for safety issues. Revealed.

President Moon Jae-in visited Gadeokdo Island one day before today's vote and received a report on the current situation from Gyeongnam Governor Kim Gyeong-soo and promised a prompt promotion of the project.
