Mainz (dpa / lrs) - According to the Ministry of Health, Rhineland-Palatinate can increase its corona vaccination capacities if more vaccine is delivered in the future.

The calculations for the vaccination capacity at the beginning of the vaccination campaign for 31 vaccination centers with 36 vaccination lines in single shift operation were based on 7200 vaccinations per day, as the ministry announced to the German press agency.

This number can be increased, for example, through additional vaccination lines or multi-shift operation if there is a sufficient amount of vaccine.

Then there are the vaccinations that are carried out by the mobile teams and in the hospitals.

"If enough vaccine is available, more than 20,000 doses of vaccine can be inoculated daily in Rhineland-Palatinate in a next expansion step," the ministry said.

The personnel planning for the mobile vaccination teams is organized according to the information provided by the Rhineland-Palatinate state association of the German Red Cross Rhineland-Palatinate.

A mobile vaccination team usually consists of a team leader, two helpers and three vaccinators.

In addition, there is the doctor who will provide the information and a pharmacist who will prepare the vaccine on site.

“How big a vaccination team is and how many vaccination teams are deployed in a facility is always decided individually and in close consultation with the requirements and needs of the respective facility,” explained the ministry.

According to the ministry, the duty planning of the vaccination centers is based on the number of appointments.

Allocation is currently limited by the amount of vaccine available.

The vaccination centers plan their operations themselves. For the shifts that have to be staffed, they can fall back on a pool of volunteers.

To this end, around 5600 doctors and more than 1100 pharmacists and many medical professionals have registered nationwide.

"The capacity of the vaccination centers can also be increased at short notice with this staff," emphasized the ministry.
