Ica trader Leif Larsson has had problems with thefts for many years.

The shoplifters can range from children in their 10s to older people in their 90s.

- It is much rougher than 20 years ago, the problems with threats and violence have increased, he says.

Civilian store inspectors

The store has civilian inspectors who come a couple of times a week.

They enter the store and shop just like all other customers, but keep an extra eye on customers who pick up goods without paying.

- It is a service that we rent from Securitas, he says.

But it has helped little.

Larsson says that goods disappear every day and that they often stop shoplifters.

- We can not have guards who guard the store every hour, it will be too expensive, he says.

Do not think new law makes a difference

Now he hopes that the new law banning access for people who commit repeated thefts or threaten staff will be able to make a difference.

- The question is just how we can keep track of everyone who has been ported, I hope it makes a difference but I do not think so, he says.
