Nuremberg (dpa / lby) - Despite high corona numbers, daycare centers, elementary and special schools in Nuremberg are to open again next week.

Depending on the infection situation, decisions about renewed closings should then be made on a weekly basis, the city announced on Thursday.

Graduating classes are also allowed to continue in the schools.

In Nuremberg the schools had to close again only one day after opening on Monday because the seven-day incidence per 100,000 inhabitants had jumped to over 100.

On Thursday, the Robert Koch Institute for Nuremberg reported a value of 96.6.

The city is still commuting around the critical value of 100, admitted Mayor Marcus König (CSU).

But at least the numbers didn't increase that much.

"We can represent that we open."

Every Friday in the future, a decision should be made about distance or alternating lessons for the coming week.

From March, the city wants to carry out weekly corona tests in schools before classes.

The vaccination of teachers and educators will then also begin.

In addition, CO2 traffic lights, air purifiers and disinfectant dispensers are intended to reduce the risk of infection in the classrooms.
