Euskirchen (dpa / lnw) - The number of people infected with corona in the Euskirchen plant of the home appliance manufacturer Miele has increased slightly after evaluating the series of tests of 500 employees.

A company spokesman announced on Thursday that there were eleven confirmed cases.

This means that 18 employees in the plant are currently confirmed positive.

In parts of the plant, operations have been inactive since Tuesday evening because around 200 employees were quarantined until March 9.

Work will continue in other areas, said the spokesman.

There is no reliable knowledge of who may have been the first to become infected.

The extent to which the currently confirmed cases are related is also not clear.

According to the health department, the British mutant was detected in ten cases.

The remaining eight cases are still being diagnosed.
