Swedish trade has for many years worked to enable traders to feel greater security at work.

Therefore, it was a good news when the Riksdag passed the new law on access bans on 27 January this year.

- We believe that this can be a good tool, says Per Geijer.

Known problem

The fact that stores have problems with theft is not a new problem.

Swedish Trade's latest security barometer for 2020 showed that every third store has been exposed to theft during a certain week.

The law means that a prosecutor can decide on a restraining order for a person who has repeatedly stolen from a store.

It can also be about threats and violence against staff.

After the police report has been received, the prosecutor makes the decision, which is then tried in court.

Does not apply to young people under 15 years

If the person is convicted, he or she may not visit the store for one year, but the porting can also be extended.

If the person violates the ban, you can be sentenced to six months in prison.

However, persons under the age of 15 cannot be ported.

In the video above, security chief Per Geijer talks about what kind of criminals he thinks can be stopped with the new law.
