Berlin (dpa / bb) - A suspect of the right-wing extremist attack series in Berlin-Neukölln has been charged again.

There is a new charge of right-wing extremist graffiti against T. and other people, said a spokesman for the prosecutor on Thursday evening.

The «Tagesspiegel» and the RBB had previously reported.

According to “Tagesspiegel” there are now 24 cases of property damage.

T. and three accomplices are said to have attached stickers with the likeness of Hitler's deputy Rudolf Hess in alternating combinations, mostly at night, in July and August 2017.

T. was released from custody in January, the arrest warrant was canceled.

A second suspect is also at large.

Although an arrest warrant had been issued against him, he was spared from custody.

Both men were initially arrested just before Christmas.

The Neukölln series of attacks involves at least 72 acts such as arson and threats against left-wing politicians and initiatives, especially between 2016 and 2018. The police had investigated for years without any major success.

The arrest of the two men from the right-wing extremist scene was initially considered a success by investigators, and T.'s release was then a major setback.

The public prosecutor's office is not giving up, wrote the Tagesspiegel about the new indictment.

Interior Senator Andreas Geisel (SPD) apologized to the victims of the right-wing extremist attack series on Thursday.

"We have to keep asking ourselves critically whether we are dealing appropriately with the victims of violence and racism and discrimination," said Geisel in the House of Representatives.

«And I answer quite frankly: No, unfortunately not always.

And we have to change that. "
