Cologne (dpa / lnw) - Cologne investigators searched more than 30 objects and arrested a suspect because of a fraud in the security industry worth millions.

The police and the public prosecutor's office announced on Thursday that an arrest warrant had been issued against the 50-year-old who was found by investigators at Düsseldorf airport.

There are a total of 36 suspects.

Among other things, it is about the suspicion of the particularly serious case of bankruptcy, breach of trust, the delay in bankruptcy, social security fraud and forgery of documents in around 900 cases.

The damage to the creditors amounts to more than seven million euros.

According to the information, the investigation had already been going on for 15 months.

On Tuesday and Wednesday, investigators searched 33 apartments and business premises in Cologne and other places in North Rhine-Westphalia as well as one property in Rhineland-Palatinate.

Due to court orders, several properties and assets were executed.

About 250 officers from the police, the main customs office in Cologne and the public prosecutor's office in Cologne were involved in the operations.

A spokesman for the public prosecutor's office did not want to provide any further information on the case for tactical reasons.
