A man in his fifties was tried Tuesday afternoon in Quimper as part of a procedure to plead guilty to having tried to bribe gendarmes, reports

On Saturday, the individual was checked while driving with alcohol in his blood in Scaër.

Summoned Monday morning to the Rosporden gendarmerie, he then offered a sum of 4,000 euros in cash to the soldiers so that they cancel the procedure.

The 50-year-old was immediately taken into custody by the gendarmes for attempted corruption.

At the hearing Tuesday, he was sentenced to six months in prison suspended with two years of probation.

His driving license was also canceled for a period of five years and the 4,000 euros with which he had tried to bribe the gendarmes were also seized.
