Hanover (dpa / lni) - Which apprenticeship should it be?

The Future Day for boys and girls, the Girls' and Boys'Day - usually provides information about the possibilities for young people.

In the corona pandemic last year, the Future Day had to be canceled, this year attention is to be drawn digitally to professions that are traditionally assigned to the opposite sex.

On April 22, companies will be called upon to offer students from grades 5 to 9 digital offers for career orientation, the Ministry of Education announced on Thursday.

"School is more than just an educational institution and can make a major contribution to ensuring that pupils find a job that corresponds to their interests, potential and skills, and that is fun in the long term," said Lower Saxony's Minister of Education, Grant Hendrik Tonne.

"This is all the more important at a time when other paths to professional orientation have almost completely collapsed due to contact restrictions and similar protective measures," emphasized the SPD politician.

He appealed to companies and administrations to "actively" participate - "also in their own interest".

Schools should allow students to participate, the ministry said.

In addition, the schools could also offer their own projects.

Face-to-face events in companies are currently prohibited in order to prevent the possible spread of the corona virus.
