Kiel (dpa / lno) - Corona vaccinations in old people's and nursing homes are having an effect, according to Schleswig-Holstein's Minister of Health Heiner Garg (FDP).

Far fewer people have been infected with the corona virus since the vaccinations began, Garg said in the state parliament on Thursday.

"And those who are still infected have mild to no symptoms."

In the meantime, the residents in almost all senior facilities in the north are vaccinated.

Garg also campaigned for acceptance for the so-called vector vaccine from Astrazeneca.

The discussion about it is "pretty weird at one point or another".

It is said to be more effective than almost any seasonal influenza vaccination.

"If this vaccine were not effective, it would not have been approved at all."

The Astrazeneca vaccine is slightly less effective than the products from Biontech / Pfizer and Moderna, but at 70 to 80 percent effectiveness, according to experts, still a good one.
