“At the initiative of the High Representative for Foreign and Security Policy, the EU Council today agreed to announce the head of the Venezuelan mission to the EU persona non grata,” RIA Novosti quotes a statement from the EU diplomatic service.

It is noted that the decision was made in response to a similar step by Caracas.

Earlier, Venezuela announced the EU ambassador to the country, Isabel Brilante, persona non grata in response to new EU sanctions.

On February 22, the European Union included 19 more officials in the sanctions list for Venezuela.
