Munich / Berlin (dpa) - The renewed demand from SPD chancellor candidate Olaf Scholz for a wealth tax shows from the perspective of the CSU the political shift of the SPD in the Bundestag election year.

"Scholz and his SPD have slowly reached the far left of the political spectrum," said Bavaria's Finance Minister Albert Füracker (CSU) on Thursday of the dpa in Munich.

For them, the future concept only means increasing taxes, redistributing money, nationalizing companies.

"That costs jobs and destroys our hard-earned wealth."

Scholz had previously stated in the "Rheinische Post" that after the election he wanted to enforce tax increases for higher earners and the wealthy as well as relief for lower and middle incomes.

At the same time, he had spoken out against a complete abolition of the solidarity surcharge for high incomes.

For Füracker, the wealth tax is the wrong focus: “Tax impulses for the economy would be much more urgent in order to emerge stronger from the crisis.

The federal government has to act here, ”he said.

Germany is not alone in the world, but has to face international competition.

«Unfortunately, since the last corporate tax reform 13 years ago, Germany has gradually lost the connection here.

We need to catch up here. "

Füracker also announced that the CSU would continue to campaign “emphatically” for the complete abolition of solos.
