Magdeburg (dpa / sa) - In Saxony-Anhalt, the number of new corona infections remains high.

The seven-day incidence, i.e. the number of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants within a week, was 92.72 on Thursday - after 89.12 the previous day, as the Ministry of Social Affairs in Magdeburg announced.

The value has been around the 90 mark for a good week.

From Wednesday to Thursday, 383 new cases of infection and 25 deaths related to the coronavirus were reported.

So so far 2,410 people in the country have died with or from Sars-CoV-2.

According to the Robert Koch Institute, Saxony-Anhalt is still the region with the highest number of infections nationwide, alongside the neighboring state of Thuringia.

The Robert Koch Institute gave the national average on Thursday at 61.7.

A total of 60 018 corona cases have been recorded in Saxony-Anhalt since the start of the pandemic.

Meanwhile, 95 intensive care and ventilation beds are occupied with Covid-19 patients;

59 of these patients are artificially ventilated.

Since the vaccination started, 89 004 people across the country have received the first injection, 50 118 also the second.

According to the ministry, there were 2,369 first vaccinations on Wednesday.

The rate for first vaccinations is around 4 percent nationwide, and that for second vaccinations is just under 2.3 percent.
