At 15:30, the Chinese and New Zealand ships carried out a joint search and rescue exercise.

The Sovereign of Singapore sent a simulated location of the "overboard crew" through the VHF radio.

Based on the direction and velocity of the sea water, the time when the "overboarding person" was in distress and the drift time, the ships of both sides calculated the possible crash area and formed a search and rescue formation to start search and rescue.
