Hamburg (dpa / lno) - Eight months after his cruciate ligament rupture, Rick van Drongelen is about to make a comeback at the second division soccer club Hamburger SV.

"He is fully resilient again," HSV coach Daniel Thioune was quoted in unanimous statements in the Hanseatic city's newspapers on Thursday.

Although the 22-year-old head of defense is noticeable after the long rehab phase, the physical strain, "but the knee is one hundred percent restored," emphasized the 46-year-old coach, who has been missing Toni Leistner in central defense for a long time.

Van Drongelen could be an option in the prestigious derby on Monday (8.30 p.m. / Sky) against city rivals FC St. Pauli.

He will probably first take a seat on the substitute bench in the Millerntor Stadium.

Because Stephan Ambrosius (22) has served his yellow card suspension in Würzburg (2: 3) and is pushing back into the HSV team, either Gideon Jung (26) or Moritz Heyer (25) should be at his side in the center of the defense chain.

But Heyer is also a possible representative for the suspended Amadou Onana as six in the defensive midfield.

Aaron Hunt could also assume this position.

The 34-year-old ex-captain, who didn't feel well the day before and only worked individually in the weight room, returned to the training ground on Thursday.
