The Ruselectronics holding (part of Rostec) has begun serial deliveries to the troops of the Zavet automated control systems for anti-tank formations, the press service of the state corporation reports.

“The complex provides target designation to anti-tank formations and allows organizing the repulsion of an attack by enemy armored vehicles,” the Rostec website says.

The key element of the automated control system, the direct developer of which is the Penza NPP "Rubin", is the command and observation vehicle, created on the basis of the BMP-3.

However, instead of 100-mm and 30-mm artillery pieces, the designers installed reconnaissance and surveillance equipment on this platform.

The vehicle is equipped with an optoelectronic system and an external radar station (radar).

Thanks to this equipment, it is able to detect targets at a distance of up to 7 km and recognize them at a distance of up to 5 km.

“After determining the coordinates and processing the data, the system (“ Covenant ”) performs automatic distribution of targets.

All information is communicated to the means of destruction of the enemy in a time mode close to real, "- noted in" Rostec ".

Reception and transmission of information to subordinate and higher control points is carried out via radio and wire channels.

Covenant capabilities allow data exchange at a distance of up to 100 km.

In general, as noted in Rostec, the use of automated control systems in a modern theater of operations significantly increases the effectiveness of all types of weapons.

“Implemented in the complex (“ Testament ”-

) technical solutions ensure continuous control of anti-tank formations, including through the possibility of reconfiguring the control system and transferring functions of failed control points to subordinate or higher authorities,” the state corporation's website says.

Anti-tank defense

"Testament" is a complex of automated control with elements of artificial intelligence.

He is able to determine tank-hazardous directions and organize a reflection of the attack of enemy armored vehicles.

According to Izvestia newspaper, Zavet can collect intelligence information not only with its own equipment.

The complex is designed to receive messages from ground units and drones.

The main function of the system is to protect army groups from enemy tanks, combat vehicles, armored personnel carriers and self-propelled artillery installations.

The equipment of the "Zavet" in an automated mode forms a plan for the elimination of enemy forces, classifying targets according to the degree of danger they pose.

Then the coordinates of enemy objects are sent to the calculations of anti-tank weapons.

Currently, in the Russian army, they are represented by several types of vehicles.

One of them is the Chrysanthemum-S self-propelled missile system, which is responsible for the long-range echelon of anti-tank defense.

This complex is designed to destroy low-flying vehicles, infantry, low-tonnage surface platforms, engineering structures and enemy armored vehicles equipped with reactive armor.

The Chrysanthemum-S is capable of escorting the enemy using its own radar without the participation of an operator.

The presence of an additional laser guidance system allows the calculation to fire in a salvo at two targets simultaneously.

The complex can make strikes against enemy targets without optical and thermal imaging aiming.

“A platoon of Chrysanthemum-S complexes in the amount of three combat vehicles is capable of successfully repelling an attack by an enemy tank company in the amount of 14 units, while destroying at least 60% of tanks,” the RF Ministry of Defense said.

The maximum firing range of "Chrysanthemum-S" is 6 km, the minimum is 400 m, the ammunition is 15 supersonic missiles.

On the highway, a 20-ton self-propelled gun mounted on a BPM-3 chassis can reach speeds of up to 70 km / h.

Another recipient of information from the "Covenant", according to experts, may be the "Shturm-S" complex, designed to combat enemy tanks, armored vehicles, manpower and low-speed aircraft.

This self-propelled unit is capable of firing at stationary and moving targets at a distance of up to 5 km.

The cumulative warhead of the missile provides penetration of the armor of enemy vehicles up to 560-800 mm thick.

"Shturm-S" is equipped with high-tech equipment that helps the crew to fire without reducing the probability of hitting the target in the face of active opposition from the enemy.

This complex is mounted on the MT-LB chassis and is much lighter than the Chrysanthemum-S.

In addition, experts believe that the Zavet command and observation vehicle is capable of interacting on the battlefield with the Kornet family of anti-tank missile systems (ATGM), which the Russian industry produces in self-propelled and wearable versions.

The complex can fire at a range of 5.5-10 km, the minimum firing distance is estimated at 100-150 m. A guided missile is guided at a target by a laser beam.

"Cornet" is capable of performing tasks in conditions of electronic and optical interference.

"Unimpeded action"

In an interview with RT, candidate of military sciences Sergei Suvorov predicted that the "Testament" will become an extremely important element for Russian anti-tank units, because the use of the complex will increase the speed of fixing targets and responding to threats.

“As far as I understand, Covenant will make the process of target detection, identification and distribution faster.

Naturally, the defeat of the enemy forces by the most suitable means will also accelerate, "Suvorov explained.

He believes that the basic function of the "Covenant" will be to cover various groups, including tank troops, which to a large extent ensure success in a modern combined arms battle.

Suvorov believes that the Covenant will improve the coordination of anti-tank forces and become an effective means of covering army formations on the battlefield.

“The key to success in combined arms combat is primarily the quality of the organization of interaction.

This requires well-trained commanders and appropriate equipment, which will properly conduct reconnaissance and transmit information.

It is precisely this task that Covenant serves, ”says Suvorov.

In a conversation with RT, Dmitry Litovkin, editor of the Nezavisimoye Voennoye Obozreniye newspaper, linked the supplies to the Russian troops of the Zavet with the worldwide trend of automating combat control.

In his opinion, this complex solves many pressing issues of information support for military groups.

“Means of effective destruction do not always“ see ”the enemy and do not always have complete information, therefore they need data from external sources, in obtaining the coordinates of enemy objects.

That is, modern electronics and reconnaissance equipment transmit the necessary information to specific combat units, ”Litovkin said.

The interlocutor of RT believes that the "Testament" will mainly serve as a means of defense for tank units.

According to Litovkin, they need cover from defeat complexes, which the potential enemy is constantly improving.

“Tanks remain the main striking force for ground operations.

But they need serious support.

The emergence of any weapons, especially such as the "Testament", which ensure the unimpeded action of tanks, can only be welcomed, "Litovkin summed up.
