Dresden (dpa / sn) - 32 infections of the British variant of the corona virus have so far been detected in the Erzgebirgskreis.

The district office announced on Wednesday that the number of positive findings with a virus variant had increased.

After a slight relaxation in the past few days, the total number of new corona infections per 100,000 inhabitants in the Ore Mountains rose slightly in seven days to currently 76.4.

A week ago the value was 56.1.

So far, the British virus variant has been detected in 23 infections in the Leipzig district - an increase of five cases.

The district office in Pirna (district of Saxon Switzerland-Eastern Ore Mountains) announced the establishment of four test centers for free rapid tests.

From February 27th, entrepreneurs and employees who have to be professionally tested will be able to take a quick test.

The district justified the cut with the upcoming opening of hairdressers and foot care businesses from March 1st.

The prerequisite is that owners and employees have themselves tested weekly.

The aim of the test centers is to ensure a smooth workflow, it said.

According to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) (as of Wednesday), a total of 191 563 people have been proven to have been infected with the corona virus in Saxony.

That was 514 more than the day before.

This means that the seven-day incidence, which applies as a guideline for opening daycare centers and elementary schools, is 66 in the Free State.Nationally, the incidence on Wednesday was 59.
