"Face-lifting needle", "Shuiguang needle", "Thread carving"... Nowadays, some medical beauty terms are becoming popular.

At the same time, traditional plastic surgery items such as double eyelid cutting and nose padding are still popular.

Driven by the love of beauty, the "economy of beauty" gradually heats up.

However, various medical and aesthetic institutions have grown savagely, and chaos in the industry have frequently occurred.

According to the "Insight White Paper on China's Medical Beauty Industry in 2020" released by iResearch, in 2019, only 12% of my country's legally and compliant medical beauty projects accounted for 12% of the industry, and the number of black organizations exceeded 80,000; legally compliant physicians only accounted for 24%, as many as 100,000 illegal practitioners.

Nowadays, in subways, buses, elevators and other places, there are a lot of medical beauty advertisements to promote the various benefits of medical beauty, but they avoid mentioning the hidden risks and disadvantages.

In this regard, a reporter from the Workers’ Daily launched an investigation.

Medical beauty advertisements are difficult to distinguish and pervasive

“Plastic surgery hospitals are so rich and advertise everywhere.” “That’s right, young people nowadays look at their faces more than anything else.” Recently, a publicity advertisement for a plastic surgery hospital was broadcast on a bus in Chongqing. A middle-aged couple followed My colleagues chatted about plastic surgery.

"The advertisement is so hyped, but I don't know the true or false." A woman took the stubbornly.

Ms. Chen, 32, is a "senior" medical beauty consumer.

She told reporters that in addition to medical beauty advertisements in public, the plastic information pushed by mobile apps is mostly soft texts carefully packaged and designed by platforms and institutions.

Ms. Chen said that her first plastic surgery was to download a medical beauty app, and immediately after opening the app, user-specific labels were popped up, including age, height and weight, face shape, single and double eyelids, etc.

“I used to have single eyelids. I saw many successful cases of double eyelid cuts published in the APP. I was moved. I tried to contact customer service. Two days later, I spent several thousand yuan to cut my double eyelids.”

Since then, the APP has continuously launched a series of highly provocative articles such as "If you didn't make this nose, would you still be so perfect?"

"I have seen too many facelifts on the platform, and I feel that the aesthetics have been deviated. The more I look at myself, the less pleasing to the eye." Ms. Chen said frankly that under the "bombing" of these advertisements, she has done lip augmentation, nose pads, and bone grinding. It took nearly 300,000 yuan to wait for the operation in two years.

A staff member of a medical beauty institution in Chongqing revealed that in order to create an atmosphere of “cosmetic surgery for the whole people” and the concept of “beauty is not wrong”, various medical beauty apps have fabricated a large number of mortal stories about “plastic surgery changes their destiny”, and sometimes they “touch "Porcelain" stars come to catch the heat.

According to the "Guidelines for Upgrading Facial Values and Avoiding Pitfalls" (hereinafter referred to as "Guidelines") recently released by Tianyancha, more than 3,600 medical and aesthetic-related companies have received administrative penalties.

Among them, among more than 6,200 administrative penalties, nearly 2,000 involved content such as "posting false advertisements and false publicity."

"Three Africas" chaos presents security risks

In addition to false advertisements, the fatal problems that plague the medical beauty industry are the "three nons" chaos of non-medical beauty establishments engaged in medical beauty treatment, non-formal training of professional physicians, and the use of unqualified medical beauty products.

In the eyes of many industry experts, it is this chaotic phenomenon of "three nons" that has caused constant disputes in the medical aesthetics industry and has turned "micro plastic surgery" into "dangerous plastic surgery."

Li Li (pseudonym), 29, is a public relations manager for a company in Chongqing.

She said that this job not only requires sufficient business capabilities, but also an outstanding appearance.

Based on the consideration of "becoming beautiful to win more opportunities", Li Li became a frequent visitor to a certain medical aesthetics institution in Chongqing.

Not only did she open the corners of her eyes, she also had water-light injections and face-lift injections almost every few months.

"In the beginning, I did become beautiful, but the sequelae gradually became more prominent." Li Li said that due to repeated use of injection products, her menstrual cycle became disordered and she often had diarrhea.

"I don't understand professional medical knowledge, and I can't verify whether the products used are qualified. In order to save my life, I can only give up using injection products."

A survey conducted by the China Plastic Surgery Association shows that a considerable part of the hyaluronic acid and botulinum toxin products sold in the domestic market are fake and parallel imports.

These fakes and parallel imports have not been approved by the Food and Drug Administration, and pose great safety risks.

At the same time, with the heating up of the medical beauty industry, private medical beauty studios in the society continue to emerge, many of which are unqualified "small workshops".

The person in charge of a Chongqing medical aesthetics institution revealed that in some small medical aesthetics institutions, few medical aesthetics physicians are qualified to practice.

The huge gap in the medical aesthetics industry has caused many illegally practicing "physicians" and "nurses" to administer injections to consumers after only a few days of training.

"Such studios hardly make publicity, and most of their clients are introduced through acquaintances. As long as there is no accident and no one reports, they will continue to'strive'." The person in charge said.

Multi-pronged approach to "plastic surgery" in the medical beauty industry

According to Luan Jie, chairman of the Plastic Surgery Branch of the Chinese Medical Association and vice president of the Plastic Surgery Hospital of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, the medical aesthetics industry is generally chasing huge profits. The medical aesthetics institutions deliberately downplay the medical nature of medical aesthetics. The industry is facing a credibility crisis. Insufficient investment at the level and lack of a long-term management mechanism at the legal level are the main reasons for the chaos in the medical aesthetics industry.

In this regard, some experts pointed out that the chaos in the development of the medical aesthetics industry also needs to be "plasticized."

First of all, we must "cut the knife" from the savagely growing medical beauty APP and false advertising.

For example, the cybersecurity and informatization department must deal with bad information related to Internet medical cosmetology in accordance with the law, and investigate and punish illegal websites; the market supervision department must strengthen the supervision of medical cosmetology advertisements, carry out regular special rectification actions, and investigate and deal with false and illegal medical cosmetology advertisements.

People in the legal profession in Chongqing suggested that relevant departments should organize experts and scholars to clearly define various medical cosmetology items as soon as possible, and issue detailed manuals of various medical cosmetology items, so that law enforcement personnel of non-medical professionals can quickly and clearly make judgments when law enforcement. .

At the same time, a long-term management mechanism must be established, and the manual will be updated regularly according to changes in medical beauty items.

Sun Xianze, deputy director of the National Committee of Education, Science, Culture, Health and Sports of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, and chairman of the Chinese Pharmaceutical Association, proposed that to rectify the chaos in the industry and solve the pain points of industry development, it is necessary to comprehensively manage, give play to the role of professional organizations such as industry associations, strengthen industry self-discipline and scientific publicity Start in 4 areas.

Regarding the shortage of professional talents, industry associations should give full play to their role and cultivate more qualified medical and aesthetic professionals.
