Luxembourg (dpa / lrs) - In Luxembourg, the number of corona infections has risen again.

The seven-day incidence, i.e. the number of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants within seven days, grew from 176 to 200 in the week from February 15 to 21 compared to the previous week, as the Luxembourg Ministry of Health announced on Wednesday Communicated weekly report.

In recent weeks, the national health laboratory has developed a sequencing system that provides information on the spread of the corona mutations.

Accordingly, a representative sample of 132 infections for the week from February 8 to 14 showed that the British variant B.1.1.7 was present in 57.6 percent of the cases.

The South African mutant B.1.351 applied to 4.5 percent of the samples.

Last week, the Luxembourg parliament decided to extend the corona measures until March 14th.

The gastronomy in Luxembourg is closed, there is a nightly exit restriction from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m.

The following applies to contacts: A maximum of two people from another household are allowed to visit.

The retail trade has been open since January 11th under strict conditions.

Cultural institutions and sports facilities are also open with restrictions, and face-to-face classes started again on Monday.
