Schwerin (dpa / mv) - Schwerin's Lord Mayor Rico Badenschier (SPD) has demanded a free hand from the state government for regional priorities in vaccination.

The state capital wants to prepare a concerted vaccination campaign for teachers and educators for mid-March, when enough vaccine is available, said Badenschier on Wednesday.

«Words must be followed by deeds.

It is not enough to prefer this group of people only on paper in the vaccination sequence. "

The municipalities must be able to set their own priorities when implementing the vaccination ordinance due to the regional infection rate, demanded Badenschier.

"For the state capital, we want to accompany the step-by-step plans for returning to face-to-face teaching and for returning to normal daycare operations with the quick vaccination of teachers and educators."

The city of Schwerin had a seven-day incidence of 75.3 on Tuesday.

It was the third highest value among the eight regions in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania after the districts of Western Pomerania-Greifswald (149.0) and Northwest Mecklenburg (79.5).
