Several shells hit the city and hit the densely populated areas of Adamkolo and Gwange.
According to the head of a pro-government militia, joined by AFP, the shells were fired by Boko Haram terrorists.

It was from Kaleri, a neighborhood on the outskirts of Maiduguri, that the terrorists allegedly fired their shells.
According to testimonies on the spot, the jihadists would have crossed the ditches which protect Maiduguri, would then have entered Kaleri and would have opened fire.
This man was present at the time of the attack.

I was next door when I heard a bomb explode.
As I approached, I saw many victims on the ground.
We rescued them and took them to the hospital by car.
They were at least sixteen
”, explains this witness at the microphone of Bilyaminou Youssouf, the correspondent of the editorial staff of RFI Hausa.
After the attack, the armed men are said to have left for the village of Boboshe, around 100 kilometers east of Maiduguri.
This locality is known to be a stronghold of Boko Haram.
