On Tuesday, Minister of the Environment and Climate Per Bolund (MP) and politicians from Botkyrka municipality met at the remains of the Kagghamra fire.

The fire in the illegal rubbish heap started before Christmas and has now been covered with sand.

- It is an unsustainable situation and unacceptable that it could have happened, said the minister.

"Criminal actors should not put themselves on waste"

Three people in the company Think Pink, which operated the high-profile landfill in Kagghamra, are suspected of a serious environmental crime.

In order for history not to repeat itself, the government now instructs authorities to develop a plan for how society can cooperate in similar situations.

- We must guarantee that criminal actors can not shoehorn themselves and make money from waste in a way that destroys people and the environment, says Per Bolund (MP).

He continues:

- It is incredibly important that everyone works together.

Authorities such as the police, the Swedish Customs, the county administrative boards and the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency are commissioned to make further proposals on how to stop this type of criminal actor and stop the connection to organized crime.

Botkyrka municipality welcomes the initiative and believes that they would have liked to have seen greater responsibility from the county administrative board.
