The Russian ministry stressed that the murder of the Italian ambassador "once again highlighted numerous security problems" in the eastern and northeastern provinces of the Congo, on whose territory more than 150 illegal armed groups operate.
Moscow recalled the need to take additional security measures in these regions of the country.
On February 22, the Italian ambassador was killed in the Congo in an attack on a convoy.
