With films like “Taxi Driver”, “Time of Awakening” and of course in the second part of “The Godfather”, Robert De Niro became world famous as an actor - and in “Casino” he also played a hotel operator.
The 77-year-old is also in real life, at least he is a co-owner of the “Nobu Hospitality” chain, which announced its first branch in Germany on Wednesday morning.
In the planned Elbtower skyscraper, which is to be built in the eastern part of Hafencity by 2025 under the direction of the client Signa, the Nobu is to move into several floors.

"We are delighted to be working with Signa on the development of the Nobu Hotel in the great city of Hamburg," said Robert De Niro and Nobu Matsuhisa, who is the other owner alongside CEO Trevor Horwell, who runs the chain's operations.
Hamburg is one of the economically strongest locations in Germany and an attractive destination for travelers.
Horwell: “That fits perfectly with our global customer base.
The Elbtower itself is a world-class project, at the center of which our Nobu Hotel and Restaurant will be located. "

The Nobu Hotel Elbtower Hamburg is to offer 191 rooms and suites, a restaurant with 200 seats, a terrace bar and lounge with a view of the Elbe.
In addition to the restaurant, which is supposed to offer the currently hip Peruvian-Japanese fusion cuisine, the hotel will also have high-quality function rooms for company and social events.
According to the press release, exclusivity should also be offered, for example through the “Nobu Private Members Club”.
Members could benefit from a private lounge, access to the hotel's fitness and wellness area and exclusive events.

However, the construction of the Elbtower has not yet been fully secured, and the building application has not yet been decided.
The citizenship of the Hanseatic city made the grant dependent on the fact that the investor Signa - the group belongs to the group of the Austrian entrepreneur René Benko - can pre-let around a third of the planned floor space.
This has been exceeded by a lease with the Hamburg Commercial Bank and now the hotel.
The 245 meter and 64 storey high Elbtower was designed by David Chipperfield Architects; it would be the third tallest building in Germany.
It was presented by the then Mayor Olaf Scholz (SPD) in his last days of office and is therefore also considered "Scholz's legacy".
