Cologne / Amsterdam (dpa) - The convicted Reemtsma kidnapper and alleged serial robber Thomas Drach (60) is apparently also accused in the current proceedings of having shot and seriously injured a security guard with an assault rifle in Cologne.

The public prosecutor's office confirmed the accusation against the German press agency on Wednesday without naming Drach's name.

The Kalashnikov weapon ("AK47") was discovered in a burned-out getaway car after the attack on a money transporter on March 6, 2019 at Cologne / Bonn Airport.

The prosecution did not explain why the shots were attributed to Drach and not to an accomplice.

According to the investigators at the time, the robbers had only made a small amount of booty in the attack, according to media reports 400 euros.

As the "Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger" reported on Wednesday, Drach may also have shot and injured a security guard in Frankfurt / Main when he attacked a money transporter at an Ikea furniture market.

The public prosecutor initially did not provide any information.

Drach is accused of three acts: In addition to the money transporters at Cologne airport and the Frankfurt furniture store, he is said to have attacked another at an Ikea store in Cologne.

The 60-year-old was wanted with a European arrest warrant and arrested by a special unit on Tuesday morning in Amsterdam.

He was supposed to be brought before a judge on Wednesday.

Drach kidnapped the millionaire heir Jan Philipp Reemtsma in 1996 and was released after his arrest in 2013.
