Oberstdorf (dpa) - DOSB President Alfons Hörmann sees the Nordic World Ski Championships under Corona conditions as an important test for the upcoming major events in summer and next winter.

“A global tailwind helps in such situations.

In terms of 'best practice', Oberstdorf could be a milestone on the way of world sport to Tokyo and Beijing, ”said Hörmann on Wednesday evening at the opening ceremony of the title fights in the Allgäu.

The 60-year-old head of the German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB) himself comes from the Allgäu and was formerly President of the German Ski Association (DSV).

The Olympic Summer Games in Tokyo had been postponed by one year from 2020 to 2021 due to the pandemic and should be rescheduled this year (23 July to 8 August).

Just six months later, the 2022 Winter Games in Beijing are on the program from February 4th to 20th.

Due to the Corona crisis, all competitions for ski jumpers, combined athletes and cross-country skiers take place in Oberstdorf without spectators.

All those involved are tested closely.
