Bautzen (dpa / sn) - Bautzen District Administrator Michael Harig (CDU) has spoken out in favor of traditional Easter riding despite the Corona crisis.
"Easter Riding is an important festival for the Catholic Sorbs and for the citizens of Lusatia," said Harig on Wednesday.
That is why the CDU district executive has spoken out in favor of organizing the Easter Riding with a corresponding hygiene concept.
The vote between Osterreitern and the state government was optimistic, it said.
Last year, the traditional Easter riding had to be canceled across the board for the first time due to the corona pandemic.
"Since then we have learned a lot about this disease and with the new knowledge we can also make decisions that speak in favor of a careful implementation of the Easter Riding", explained Harig.
For centuries, horsemen have been carrying the message of the resurrection of Christ on horseback to neighboring church communities on Easter Sunday.
A Christian message that is "incredibly important" for people, especially in these difficult times.
