Sports Minister Roxana Maracineanu on Wednesday asked the president of the rugby federation (FFR) Bernard Laporte to launch an investigation after the fifteen cases of Covid-19 which hit the French team despite the bubble imposed during the tournament of VI Nations.

The minister also asked the Ministry of Health "to understand how the chain of contamination was formed" within the XV of France, said a source at the Ministry of Sports.

The investigation must be submitted within eight days.

Since his victory against Ireland (15-13), the XV of France, yet subject to compliance with a health bubble imposed during the VI Nations tournament, has been affected by a cascade of contaminations.

The first positive case identified, according to the FFR, concerns a physical trainer whose identity has not been specified.

Chronologically, the second case concerns the coach Fabien Galthié, who defended himself Wednesday in the Team by affirming that "all his actions" had been "in accordance with the sanitary protocol".

Despite the slaughter among the Blues, with eight players since the start of the VI Nations Tournament affected, the next match against Scotland scheduled for Sunday has been maintained.

No new case of Covid-19 has been detected for 48 hours in the ranks of the French team, the French Rugby Federation said on Wednesday.
