The Gothenburg District Court acquitted the duo of violations of the Estonia Act.
The verdict is now being appealed by chamber prosecutor Helene Gestrin, according to a press release from the Public Prosecutor's Office.
The reason is that they were on a German boat.
- Unlike the district court, I believe that the Estonia Act is applicable in this case, regardless of whether the accused persons were on board a Swedish or German boat.
The law is not in violation of international law but can be applied to the Swedes who were on board, says Helene Gestrin in the press release.
