"Boxing is a game that we inherit in the family from generation to generation, and what made me attached to it was the practice of my father, my uncles and my older brother to it," he tells Al-Jazeera Net by phone from his residence in Ukraine as part of a training camp.

He adds, "My father had the biggest role in the successes I reached. Without his support and spending on my training, I would not have been able to reach this position and qualify for the Tokyo Olympics. My older brother Hussain also contributed to my success as he is an international boxing champion weighing 91 kg, and he has a great and distinguished role in my training. And qualify me as appropriate. "

Asheesh represented his country in the first international competition in the youth category in 2015 in the Turkey International Boxing Championship, and it was a milestone in his sports career. “International tournaments increase the player's experience and combat skills, and he bears the responsibility of representing his country in the best way,” says Ashish.

Gold and Bronze

During his sports career, Asheesh won gold in the Arab Championship, and won bronze in the Asian Games in Jakarta in 2018, and the Jordanian and Arab victory was the only one in that session, which qualified him to prepare well for the Olympic qualifiers, and won bronze at the Boxing World Cup.

During the past year, Ashish won the gold in the boxing championships, qualifying for the Tokyo Olympics, for the continents of Asia and Oceania, which were held in Jordan after being transferred from Wuhan, China, due to the spread of the Corona virus.

Asheesh thanked the Director of Public Security, Major General Hussein Al-Hawatmeh for embracing his talent, personal interest in public security athletes, continuous communication with them during their international participation, and the Directorate's providing support, care, training and rehabilitation to win, and Al-Hawatmeh congratulated Ashish for winning the first place in the boxing classification with a weight of 69 kg, to become The first Jordanian boxer to reach the top of the classification.

Zoom training

The global spread of the Corona pandemic led to the postponement of the Tokyo Olympics for the current year, which gave Ashish and his brother Hussein a greater opportunity to train and acquire high combat skills, but the closure of clubs and gyms stood in front of them to complete their training, forcing them to self-train on the roof of their home in Baqaa camp, under the supervision of the trainer through Zoom application, with the participation of colleagues in the game.

The international boxing star describes that period as "difficult and painful" due to the lack of facilities available for training, the lack of a well-equipped gymnasium, and the absence of equipment necessary to maintain the necessary fitness necessary to continue playing.

Asheesh seeks to win gold in the Tokyo Olympics, which will give him a great opportunity to become professional in boxing, and even register him as the first Jordanian in the world to play the game, which will raise the kingdom's name high.
