It was also decided to extend the occasions when mouth protection is recommended, but for school environments there was an addition:

"In preschool, primary and secondary school, it still applies that mouth protection is only recommended in such situations when adults cannot keep their distance."

And the teachers' unions think that the information about what applies to their members is unclear.

- These are new directives and they are stated for Västerbotten, but when it comes to the school specifically and for our members, it is not clear what applies, says Anna Olskog, chairman of the Teachers' Association Umeå.

She continues:

- It is a very strained situation, the teachers take a huge social responsibility in this pandemic, when there are such vague directives it becomes a huge frustration and with that comes a worry and it is not good at all.

Anna Olskog says that it is remarkable that there are no clearer guidelines from the authorities and the region, something that Birgitta Larsson at the Swedish Teachers' Association also agrees with.

Ann-Christine Gradin, director of education at Umeå municipality, announces that she does not want to precede the municipality-wide work that is going on about how the restrictions should be applied and therefore asks to be allowed to return with comments.

In the interview above, you can see what Birgitta Larsson thinks about the situation for the teachers.
