Dresden (dpa / sn) - The Saxon government currently sees no great opportunities for easing the corona pandemic.

State Chancellor Oliver Schenk (CDU) made this clear on Tuesday after the cabinet meeting in Dresden.

He justified this mainly with the increase in mutations of the corona virus in Saxony.

Meanwhile, experts would speak of a "second pandemic".

By last Friday there had been 120 such cases in Saxony.

In March there could be a sharp increase in numbers if you don't take countermeasures.

The number of cases can be expected to double every week.

Contact follow-up will continue to play a central role.
