Frankfurt / Main (dpa / lhe) - According to an analysis by the Barmer health insurance company in Hesse, employees in social professions were most often on sick leave due to infections with the coronavirus.

In the fourth quarter of 2020, this affected 8.8 out of 1,000 employees in the “education, social work and remedial care” sector, as the Hessian state representative of the health insurance fund determined from its own insurance data.

This was followed, among other things, by employees in the nursing and emergency services with 8.2 corona sick leave per 1000 employees.

For those employed in the care of the elderly, the value was reported to be 7.2.

"Corona is particularly rampant in social professions," said country manager Martin Till on Monday in Frankfurt.

Cleaners were on sick leave the longest because of a Covid 19 infection.

They were missing an average of 17.1 days and thus two days more than the national German average for the occupational group.
