Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - Baden-Württemberg's Prime Minister Winfried Kretschmann (Greens) believes that the strict corona contact restrictions will soon be relaxed.

Even if the number of infections does not fall below the threshold of 35 per 100,000 inhabitants within seven days, there could be a slight opening, said Kretschmann on Tuesday in Stuttgart.

"I could imagine that we will have two households again."

So far, only one household and one other person have been allowed to meet in the nationwide corona lockdown, which still applies until March 7.

However, the 7-day incidence must be permanently below 50 for relaxation, said the head of government.

Kretschmann dampened the trade's hopes of reopening the shops soon.

This is only possible if the 7-day incidence is stable below 35, said the Green politician.

Nevertheless, it could not be that stores could hardly sell anything for weeks to come.

The concept of Click & Meet, i.e. shopping by appointment, could be one perspective.

The Green politician warned that the current situation was "highly problematic" because of the effects of the more contagious Corona mutants.

One must exercise caution, so he only wants to proceed "piecemeal".

The next Prime Minister's Conference with Chancellor Angela Merkel (CDU) will decide on further openings on March 3rd.
