The world's largest food trade fair has begun in UAE = United Arab Emirates.

Every year, many companies from Japan participate, but due to the influence of the new coronavirus, we did not dispatch employees to the site and held business talks online.

"Galfood" is the world's largest food trade fair, with more than 2,500 companies from about 80 countries participating, and started in Dubai, UAE on the 21st.

From Japan, 36 companies, including manufacturers that handle confectionery, are exhibiting, which is almost the same as last year, but due to the influence of the new coronavirus, employees are dispatched to the site because they are required to wait at home after returning to Japan. Only four companies did.

Every year, the booth provided tasting food while standing, but this time, at the booth where Japanese companies gather, we set up a seat for tasting to prevent infection.

A representative of a matcha maker in Kyoto said, "There are many competitors in the export of matcha, and I decided to travel because I wanted to meet in person and sell it."

On the other hand, a private room for online business negotiations was also set up for companies that did not dispatch employees from Japan, and visitors had business negotiations with the person in charge waiting in Japan through the screen of the personal computer.

An Egyptian man from a trading company who had a business talk with an ice cream maker in Kochi Prefecture said, "I thought it was unavoidable because the infection continued to spread, but I felt that the online business talk was not bad." It was.

The UAE is planning to hold the "Dubai Expo", an international exposition that has been postponed for one year, in October, and has resumed large-scale events before that.
