Hanover (dpa / lni) - In the Corona crisis, according to the child protection association, the rights of children have so far been given far too little consideration.

The Lower Saxony constitution prescribes the protection of children and adolescents, but there is currently only weak awareness in politics, criticized the association's head of state, Johannes Schmidt, on Tuesday in a hearing of the parliamentary groups of the Greens and the FDP.

Schmidt warned that the isolation would have serious health consequences for many children and threaten to destroy families.

«Do not endanger the positive and future-oriented worldview of our children any further.

They are exposed to loneliness, fear of the future, lack of drive, aggression and violence, ”he appealed.

If children lose faith in the protective function of the state, it is devastating.

Specifically, Schmidt criticized the contact rules in lockdown, to which in Lower Saxony an exception only applies to children up to six years of age.

That is not suitable for everyday use.

The exception must at least be extended to siblings, Schmidt demanded.
