The animal hit the keeper when he was working in the enclosure, first thing in the morning, and when the man fell, he hit the iron bars of the security lock, reports the

He died after being taken by ambulance, still conscious, to the
Valdecilla hospital

.
According to the Cantabrian newspaper, the animals are first fed in the park and then "the release" is carried out, an operation that requires great specialization due to the danger it entails.
The employee had been caring for the elephants for almost 20 years.
