H2 Green Steel, H2SG, has not yet signed any agreements with suppliers of iron ore pellets that will make up 40 percent of the raw material in carbon dioxide-free steel production.

The other 60 percent shall consist of steel scrap.

- Fortunately, we have suppliers of high-quality DR pellets in our absolute vicinity, says Harald Mix.

Can take ore from Kaunis Iron

As recently as November, LKAB announced its plans to abandon the current production of so-called direct reduction pellets in order to produce fossil-free iron fungus instead.

SVT Norrbotten asked Harald Mix how those plans affect what will be presented on Tuesday?

- I'm not particularly worried.

This is a long process where LKAB will not have fully converted until 2045 and there will be access to raw materials for a long time to come.

We also have Kaunis iron in our vicinity.

Wants to be one of LKAB's largest customers

According to Harald Mix, H2GS will contribute to LKAB's and SSAB's continued development by strengthening the market for fossil-free iron fungus.

The idea is also that H2 Green steel will gradually change from using pellets to using iron sponge in steel production.

- Hopefully we will become one of LKAB's largest customers when it comes to iron fungus, he says.
