[Commentary] On February 22, State Councilor and Minister of Foreign Affairs Wang Yi attended the opening ceremony of the Lanting Forum on "Dialogue and Cooperation, Controlling Differences-Promoting Sino-US Relations to Get Back on Track" and delivered a speech.

In his speech, Wang Yi urged the US to make three "give ups."

We hope that the US will adjust its policies as soon as possible, abandon imposing unreasonable tariffs on Chinese products, abandon various unilateral sanctions on Chinese enterprises and scientific research and educational institutions, and abandon unreasonable suppression of China's scientific and technological progress, so as to provide necessary conditions for cooperation between the two countries.

[Explanation] At the event, Wang Yi put forward four suggestions on pushing Sino-US relations back on track.

Wang Yi said that to push Sino-US relations back on track, we must first respect each other and not interfere in each other's internal affairs.

We hope that the United States can also respect China’s core interests, national dignity, and development rights, stop discrediting the Communist Party of China and China’s political system, stop condoning or even supporting the wrong words and deeds of the "Taiwan independence" separatist forces, and stop working in Hong Kong, Xinjiang, Tibet, etc. China's internal affairs undermine China's sovereignty and security.

[Commentary] Wang Yi said that to push Sino-US relations back on track, we must strengthen dialogue and properly manage contradictions and differences.

China is willing to communicate frankly and openly with the United States and engage in dialogue to resolve issues.

He emphasized that China-US relations must meet each other halfway and restart mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries.

Fighting the new crown epidemic, addressing climate change, and promoting world economic recovery are the three most urgent tasks of the international community. As a responsible major country, China is willing to coordinate policies with the United States in these three areas, strengthen cooperation, and join hands to make positive contributions to the world.

[Commentary] Wang Yi said that to push Sino-US relations back on track, obstacles must be removed and Sino-US exchanges in various fields must be restored.

People-to-people exchanges between the two countries should not be influenced by the ups and downs of political relations.

[Concurrent] State Councilor and Minister of Foreign Affairs Wang Yi

We hope that the United States will lift all kinds of restrictions on Chinese education, culture, news, overseas Chinese affairs and other groups' activities in the United States as soon as possible, lift the deterrence of US local governments and all walks of life to China, and encourage and support the restoration of universities, research institutions, and foreign students in the two countries. Wait for normal humanities exchange projects.

China is willing to meet each other halfway and jointly create a good environment for the exchanges between the two peoples with an open attitude.
