Karlsruhe (dpa / lsw) - In the process of rape and sexual harassment at the Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe, the verdict against an employee of the theater is expected today.

The 56-year-old defendant, a singer in the opera choir of the house, is standing in front of the Karlsruhe district court because he is said to have raped an extras and immorally touched another.

According to the prosecutor, the acts occurred during a premiere party in late January 2019.

During the first two days of the trial, the defendant had denied the crimes.

At the same time, he and the alleged rape victim spoke of considerable memory gaps.

Both said they were drunk almost to the point of unconsciousness.

The second alleged victim, on the other hand, described precisely inappropriate touches that he had to endure on the evening in question.

According to the court, the expected penalty in the case is a maximum of four years according to the current status.

Therefore, the offenses were charged before the district court and not before the regional court.
