Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - In Baden-Württemberg, too, gardening centers, garden markets and flower shops are expected to be allowed to reopen after a week-long corona lockdown.

Prime Minister Winfried Kretschmann (Greens) has commissioned a corresponding template for the cabinet meeting this Tuesday, government spokesman Rudi Hoogvliet told the dpa in Stuttgart on Monday.

"We tend to open on March 1st."

Bavaria had previously announced an opening at the beginning of March.

Hoogvliet explained that they are also coordinating with the other neighboring countries of Rhineland-Palatinate and Hesse, with nurseries and flower shops already open in Hesse.

According to the Florists' Association, there are 1200 flower shops in the southwest alone.

The government spokesman was cautious about further easing the lockdown.

The number of infections in Baden-Württemberg, with a seven-day incidence of around 40, is still the lowest nationwide.

However, the numbers are currently stagnating.

One must exercise caution in view of the effects of the corona mutations.

The next Prime Minister's Conference with Chancellor Angela Merkel (CDU) will decide on further openings on March 3rd.
