According to foreign media reports, Indonesian officials stated on February 21 that there was a severe flood in Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia, which killed 5 people. Local residents have returned to their homes to clean and rescue their belongings.

Over the weekend, Jakarta was hit by heavy rains, dozens of main roads were flooded, and thousands of residents were forced to go to emergency shelters.

The head of the Jakarta Disaster Reduction Agency, Kourni Anto, said that on the 20th, a 67-year-old man was trapped in a flooded house and was eventually found dead.

Three other boys died after being washed away by the flood, and one girl was drowned.

Cournanto also said that although many residents have begun to return to their homes, there are still about 1,700 people in the shelter.

According to reports, floods have hit 200 communities in Jakarta, and 40 of them were still submerged in the water level of at least 30 cm on the 21st.
