Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - A number of municipalities have taken the Corona rapid tests for employees into their own hands to open schools and daycare centers.

The tests previously planned in doctors' offices and pharmacies are less practical there than in the facilities themselves, said Norbert Brugger, head of the city council.

Teachers, educators, school social workers and other employees who are allowed to be tested twice a week should not have to wait.

The municipal school authorities take different paths.

In Karlsruhe, for example, in addition to being able to be tested in pharmacies and practices, there is also the option of having this done at work.

In Mannheim, too, helpers trained by the Red Cross are to do quick tests in schools from Monday.

Ludwigsburg works with an external partner who also coordinates and assigns appointments for the rapid tests.

Tübingen started its quick test offensive two weeks ago, initially with the training of teaching and daycare staff.

A week later, kindergarten teachers are supposed to have themselves tested twice a week, followed by school staff.

An alternative is the so-called doctor's mobile on the Tübingen market square.

With the support of the fire brigade, Reutlingen has set up a test center in the town hall.

In addition, the fire brigade trains staff from the school development associations, who are responsible for school supervision, canteen operations and school social work in Reutlingen.

A third of the clubs have already registered for training.
