Munich (AP) - Lothar Matthäus sees good chances for RB Leipzig in the fight for the championship of the Bundesliga.
"Leipzig has a great chance of replacing FC Bayern as German champions after eight years," said Matthäus on Monday when he was introduced as the new brand ambassador for a betting company (Interwetten).
It is a "nice, open championship".
Matthäus had a lot of praise for the Saxons, who are only two points behind leaders Bayern Munich with their 3-0 win at Hertha BSC.
«Leipzig has an excellent team and, for me, a better substitute bench than Bayern Munich.
This is particularly important at this time because of the stress, "said the 59-year-old.
"The substitute bench at Bayern Munich seems to be a bit of a problem because there is nothing to add."
