The general secretary of the PP, Teodoro García Egea, is optimistic about the possibility of reaching an agreement with the PSOE for the renewal of the General Council of the Judiciary (CGPJ).

This Monday, in an interview with the Cope chain, the 'number two' of the 'popular' has confirmed that the PSOE accepts that "We can be outside any negotiation of the CGPJ."

"In this renewal of the constitutional bodies, Podemos will have nothing to do with it," he emphasized.

"The PSOE has already taken several months," García Egea recalled.

That is, the purple formation is out of the equation in the negotiations, but this would not make it impossible for the PSOE to choose a judge that Podemos likes for one of the members.

Or for the Constitutional, in the future, something that the PP has not yet negotiated.

"I confirm that Podemos is outside any negotiation of the CGPJ. This is the way, because the arsonist cannot choose the firefighter," explained the general secretary of the PP.

"We can have a pact with Pedro Sánchez, but not with the PP, nor will it ever have", and the renewal of the constitutional bodies -CGPJ, Ombudsman or RTVE- "is a parliamentary pact" for which they do not make the votes of Pablo Iglesias are missing.

García Egea has affirmed that the agreement is not closed: "We must deepen this."

The PP also demands "that there be no politicians who make the leap from politics to judicial bodies", such as the State Attorney General, Dolores Delgado.

And also, that the Socialists reverse their law so that the CGPJ cannot make appointments when it is in office, as well as a reinforcement of the Council's internal decision-making system.

"They are very simple conditions, easy to understand," said García Egea, and a first step "towards reinforcing judicial independence" and that, in the future, the judges are chosen from among themselves.
