Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - Since the number of infections in the southwest continues to decline slightly, the state government has decided to take initial steps.

Starting today, Monday, elementary schools will start changing from face-to-face and distance learning - instead of just learning from home.

According to the wishes of the Minister of Education, Susanne Eisenmann (CDU), the daycare centers should return to "regular operations under pandemic conditions".

With alternating lessons, half of the class is taught remotely and the other half on-site.

In this way, there should be at least ten attendance hours per week in future.

Graduating classes may also return to alternate classes.

For all other students, this should also be possible again in perspective - if the infection process allows it, according to the ministry.

In order to ensure safety in spite of the increasing number of contacts among teachers and educators, the Ministry of Culture relies primarily on voluntary rapid antigen tests.

Every teacher and educator should be able to be tested for corona infection twice a week.

The institutions should issue authorization certificates with which a test in the pharmacy or at the doctor's is possible.

Several cities and counties in the country have now provided their own rapid test centers and thousands of rapid tests for their schools.

In this way they take part of the protection of their teachers and educators into their own hands.

The country has also sent protective masks to around 2,500 primary schools in the southwest.
