Kiel (dpa / lno) - According to a survey, the hospitals in Schleswig-Holstein remain in the corona pandemic on high losses of millions.

In January alone, the loss of revenue compared to the previous year amounted to 60 million euros, announced the Schleswig-Holstein Hospital Association (KGSH) on Monday.

Federal government compensation payments of 20 million euros only covered part of it.

"The economic situation of many hospitals is already tense and will foreseeably worsen," said KGSH managing director Patrick Reimund.

He called for improvements to the compensation payments for the entire year 2021. Clinics at which the compensation payments expired were heading for an economic disaster.

No compensation payments are made in districts in which the incidence value is below 70.

The value indicates how many people per 100,000 residents were infected within seven days.

According to Reimunds information, the hospitals in Schleswig-Holstein expect an occupancy decline of twelve percent for the full year 2021 compared to the reference year 2019. "Now the liquidity of all hospitals must be secured in the short term through adequate compensation payments," demanded the president.
