Al-Jazeera correspondent reported that explosions occurred this evening, Monday, inside the Green Zone in central Baghdad, after which warning sirens sounded from inside the US embassy.

The Iraqi Security Media Cell said that two rockets hit the Green Zone, without causing any casualties.

In turn, local sources said that the Green Zone was targeted by three missiles, two of which landed inside the fortified area, while a third landed outside.

The new bombing of the Green Zone comes two days after a similar bombardment by Katyusha rockets on the Balad base north of the Iraqi capital.

Before that, the vicinity of Erbil airport in Iraqi Kurdistan was subjected to missile strikes, killing a civilian contractor and wounding an American.
