This was announced at a press conference by the head of EU diplomacy, Josep Borrell.

“I hope this will be resolved soon, I hope this process will take a week, not more,” he said.

The diplomat added that the European Union has to deal with a neighbor who "decided to behave like an enemy."

Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that the main goal of the EU sanctions against Russia is not to worsen relations, but to assert themselves in European states.

His Austrian colleague Alexander Schallenberg expressed the opinion that the European Union should not "cut the branch on which the EU is sitting" in the issue of imposing sanctions against Russia.
